Civil War and Period Reenactments

The Irish Volunteers Civil War Band are a four piece group. All four members have long backgrounds in celtic and folk music. They arrived on the Civil War and period scene in 2007. Since then they have delighted audiences at reenactments that include Amherst, Marilla, Peterboro and the Civil War Music Heritage Weekend in the Catskills among others.
The foursome is an upbeat, crowd pleasing and versatile group. The strong vocals of the Irish Volunteers are backed by a wide variety of instruments. Instruments in the Irish Volunteer collection include: fiddle, hammered dulcimer, banjo, autoharp, whistles, fife, jaws harp, guitar, concertina, harmonica, mountain dulcimer, mandolin, bodhran, bones etc…
The Irish Volunteers season many of the songs and tunes with an Irish flavor as befitting a group that has been on the Celtic/Irish scene for over 15 years. (See the link to their Celtic site on the left side of this page.).
The Irish Volunteers do all the popular songs of the era: The Battle Hymn of the Republic, Dixie, The Bonnie Blue Flag, Marching thru Georgia, the Vacant Chair and many more. They also play many of the popular instrumental pieces as well as Irish reels and jigs.
The Irish Volunteers make a strong, entertaining and authentic addition to any period reenactment or event.
